18 Confucius Institute Students Embark on a Two-Week Cultural Journey to China
On Friday, October 11, 2024, a group of outstanding students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi (CIUoN) embarked on an exciting journey to China. They will participate in a two-week "Chinese Bridge" Students exchange program, organized by Tianjin Normal University. The group consists of 18 excellent learners, including 16 students from the University of Nairobi and 2 students from the Statehouse Girls' High School, CIUoN teacher Ms. Maureen Ooko will be as the chaperone.
At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Chinese Director of CIUoN, volunteer teachers, as well as representatives from the Corporate Affairs Office of UoN, were present to bid farewell to the students. They encouraged the students to seize this opportunity, aiming for academic excellence while serving as ambassadors of cultural exchange between China and Kenya.
Over the next two weeks, the students will immerse themselves in a vibrant cultural experience, from engaging language training and cultural courses to visits to historical sites. The students will be fully immersed in China's rich cultural atmosphere. In addition, they will have the chance to meet and interact with peers from various countries, fostering international friendships that transcend borders.
This fulfilling and enriching journey in China, where they will not only advance their Mandarin language skills but also significantly enhance their ability to engage in cross-cultural communication.
Members of CIUoN who excel in study Chinese, take the HSK exam, and activities in the Kung Fu Club, Chinese Choir, Chinese Dance Club, Chinese Opera Club, and Dragon and Lion Dance Club will have the opportunity to embark on a cultural journey to experience China firsthand.
